Cencibel Goes to Spring Lake, New Jersey
November 2-4, 2001
For general Spring Lake Information, including where to stay and for directions,go to

The plan is pretty simple: rest and relaxation in the nicest shore town that I have ever been to. For almost a decade, Spring Lake, NJ has been a nourishing Fall get away for me. Last year some of us visited this picturesque NJ shore town to spend some quality "girl time" shopping in the quaint boutiques (including an well-appointed wine store), enjoying a relaxing Tea or Happy Hour on the Victorian wrap-around porch or by the fireplace in our favorite B&B, reading on the beach or dining in one of a couple of favorite BYOs.

There is a natural spring lake in the center of town and the beach is a few blocks away. Their boardwalk is for walkers and joggers only, no bikes, boards, skates or shops. It is a great way to begin any day... The homes in Spring Lake, also known as the "Irish Riveria," are spectacular, with manicured lawns that look like green velvet and quaint tree-lined streets similar to those in Cape May, but with a personality (and wealth) all their own. In most of the B&Bs one can request a masseuse in-house.

If you want to come along, please make your own reservations for lodging then let me know. If I know you're coming, I'll include you in the dinner reservation on Friday and Saturday nights at Matisse (remember this BYO on the Ocean? and another BYO TBD. Other than that, it's about R&R, so we can decide on the fly whether to meet for biking, a stroll, tea or whatever. Or not. It's completely up to you.

Lisa, Valorie, Robyn & Mary came with my sister, Karen (who is coming again this year!), & me last year; they can tell you what a nice weekend getaway this is. I hope you can join us this year.

www.SpringLake.org is a great source for info on where to stay.

The Sandpiper Inn B&B (This is where I'll be staying) has large rooms and an indoor pool. 1-800-UB-HAPPY or www.sandpiper.com

There are many other choices - see "Where to stay" under www.SpringLake.org.

The Spring Lake Chamber of Commerce sends out a great package of information; you can request them by calling (732) 449-0577, and press "1" and leaving your name/address.

Suggested Itinerary:

Friday, Welcome Reception at the Sandpiper Inn B&B, hosted by Deb (6ish) then carpool to Dinner at Matisse, a great BYO on the ocean in Bellmawr (right next to Spring Lake).

Saturday: 4PM Tea with Deb at Sandpiper then a late dinner (8ish); location TBD.

Sunday: Meet for lunch if you'd like, at Sister's Cafe before heading home (note: Cafe is on shopping street so you can get a little extra in if you'd like before you leave :-)

I truly hope that you will be joining me for this weekend of R&R.
