Somsak in Berlin, NJ

The first meeting of Cencibel, before we had a name, was at Somsak, in Berlin, NJ, on February 10, 1999. The original five: Beth Sheligo, Deb Denis, Meryle Melnicoff, Muncie Buckalew and Bobbie Cohen.
1995 Pinot Gris Rosenberg, Domaine Barmes Bucher - Caramel and honeysuckle. Nice body, balance and acidity. Well rounded.
1996 Charles Shaw Barrel Select Pinot Noir - Great fruit (cherry) with slight tar and licorice. Excellent body.
1993 Westhofener Rotenstein Huxelrebe Spatlese, Weingut Gunter Wittmann - Sweet honey and grapefruit, good acidity, nice tang.
1997 Christopher Phillip Rheingau Riesling Qba, Schumann-Nagler - Nose of peach skins, good body, ripe fruit. Young and vigorous.
1996 Kistler McCrea Vineyard, Sonoma, #21399 - Buttery vanilla oak, slightly charred. Great body, long finish.
