The Story...

“The story of Matyson Restaurant began in 2001 with the marriage of Matt Spector and Sonjia Bidegain. The restaurant's name of Matyson is derived from the combination of Matt and Sonjia's names, Mat-y-son. The couple opened the BYO in the fall of 2003 with their uncle, restaurateur Butch Puchowitz. It was an immediate success . Matt was the executive chef and Sonjia was the pastry chef. After four great years, the couple set out to Calistoga, California, in the Napa Valley region, and opened a new restaurant called JoLe.

Butch turned to his son, Benjamin Puchowitz, line cook since the restaurant opened, along with long time sous chef, Brian Lofink, to assume leadership in the kitchen. As co-executive chefs, Ben and Brian have both instilled their own personalities into the food without changing the original concept. The staff of Matyson has continued to win awards for their refined dishes and the pleasant atmosphere.”

The Philosophy...

“Matyson Restaurant is a pioneer in the hugely popular BYOB scene in Philadelphia. Our cuisine is considered to be hyper-seasonal new American. We are committed to using local produce and livestock whenever possible. One feature that sets us apart from the pack is our weekly tasting menu that showcases whatever is fresh and in season.”

The March Cencibel Dinner...

    Matyson offers a weekly tasting menu which is unpublished until the Friday before the event. We will publish it as soon as it's available but suffice it to say, we've NEVER been disappointed.

Cost:

Members - $60 per person (via PayPal - $63)

Non-Members - $70 (via Pay Pal - $73.50)

Payment covers food, tax & gratuities.
