Field Trip! Cencibel is planning a special dinner at Doneckers in Ephrata (between Reading and Lancaster). Doneckers is an adorable community with lovely shops, furniture and art galleries, The Restaurant and four B&B Inns.
Arrive in the morning and spend your day wandering and shopping in this quaint little town, then we’ll gather at The Guest House for cocktails hosted by Cencibel. Next, we will walk across the street for the exquisite experience of world-class French cuisine prepared by Le Bec-Fin alumnus, chef Greg Gable. Sommelier Heidi Gable will be serving and educating us "woman to woman" as her husband whips up a creative dinner for us!
Cencibel member, Debby Allen, worked with Sommelier Heidi Gable to the menu below with which Heidi paired wines. The cost for both food and wine is $70pp +tax&tip, which you will recognize is a great deal once you’ve tasted their food!
Our Menu:
Quail Salad with Banyuls Vinaigrette
with
Marsanne - Domaine Louis Cheve 2000
~
Wild Mushroom Orzo with Truffles (Greg's throwing in an extra course!!!)
with
Pinot Noir Vieilles Vignes - Guillaume 2000
~
Lemon Grass Crusted Arctic Char in Saffron Bouillon
with
Chardonnay - Chehalem 2000
~
Sorbet
~
Veal Cheeks and Lobster Mashed Potatoes with Tempura of Asparagus
with
Côte du Lubéron - Domaine de la Citadelle 1998
~
Mille-feuille of Maytag Bleu and Baby Salad and a Port Wine Reduction
with
Port Wine (not sure yet, but a must with the Bleu)
~
Warm Apple Tarte Tatin with Honey Cinnamon Ice Cream
Where to Stay:
Lodging is available at any of the four inns and there are still several “traditional” rooms available in the $69-$99 range, including two rooms with two twin beds each which make it extra-affordable! If you need contact information for any member with whom you might want to “room,” please let me know. Reservations are available via 800-377-2206; one-night stays are not a problem; cancellations within 48 hour; and continental breakfast is included.
Visit their website: www.doneckers.com to select your room (each is pictured!) and to get a feel for the place.
Extra bonus: Let the shopping continue! I plan to stop & shop in either Reading or Lancaster on the way home on Sunday. The only problem is, WHICH outlet town to visit!
Please RSVP to Deb (610-669-5685) to reserve your seat for the dinner and contact Doneckers directly to make your lodging arrangements.
