Philadelphia School of Culinary Arts
2300 Market St., Philadelphia
($5 parking at lot on Market & 23rd St.)
Business Meeting 6:00 - 7:00 PM
Dinner 7:00 - 9:00 PM
COST - $30 per person (member); $40 per person (non-member); tax and gratuity included (if paying by PayPal, slightly more)
MENU - Chef Colleen has chosen a Mid-Eastern/North African theme. Despite the region's reputation of not being particularly wine friendly, the foods themselves pair well with wines: lamb, fish, chicken, olives, capers, salty cheeses, marinated vegetables, dried fruits, grains, beans, saffron, spice blends etc.
Starter:
Mezze Platters at each table to include a variety of Mid-Eastern small dishes
Entree:
Moroccan Chicken Tajine with Olives and Preserved Lemons and Sweet Cous Cous with Vegetables
Dessert:
Phyllo Pastries and Coffee Flavored Flan with Orange Blossom Syrup
Coffee, Tea
WINE - This will be a fun menu for us to bring wines that we think might pair well. Each attendee is asked to bring one bottle of wine and be prepared to talk briefly about it. For those a bit adventurous, you may want to consider a selection from Israel's rising wine industry and its vastly improved wines. Israel?? you may ask. Check out the June 30, 2008 Wine Spectator article "Israel's Moment in the Sun."
RESERVATIONS - RSVP to Mindy melinda.taylor@verizon.net no later than Sept. 10.
